

Pauline T. Picard, 90, passed away on Friday morning, Jan. 3, 2014, with family by her side at Mount St. Joseph, after a long illness with diabetes. She was born in Waterville, ME, July 16, 1923, the daughter of Odilon and Laura (Michaud) Mathieu.
She married her husband, Romeo Picard, in 1946. They settled in Winslow where they raised their family and were married for 43 years. After her children were in school, Mom went to work at C. F. Hathaway as a bundler and worked there for 33 years until retiring in 1985.
She was predeceased by her husband, Romeo Picard, and her parents, Odilon and Laura Mathieu.
She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Hapworth and husband Theodore, of Benton, her son Denis Picard and partner Laura Allen, of Winslow, two grandsons, Adam Hapworth and wife January, Benjamin and partner Bobbi Jo Farrington, both of Clinton, grand-daughter Katie Goodwin and husband Joseph, of Benton, her sister Ruth Bourque and Husband Raymond (John) of Waterville, plus ten great-grandchildren.
There will be no visiting hours. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Silver Street in Waterville, Me. at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the nurses and staff at Mount St. Joseph that gave Mom the loving and excellent care she received during the last 4 years of her life, and also to the Hospice caregivers that tended to her during her final months.
