

Born September 15, 1964 in Charlottesville, she was a daughter of Patricia (Goolsby) Gibson and the late James Ronford Gibson.
Amy was employed by Carilion Clinic Family Medicine, Waynesboro, where she worked as a LPN for 10 years. Prior to her employment at Carilion Clinic Family Medicine, she worked as a charge nurse at Cedars Healthcare Center, Charlottesville for many years. Amy found great joy in helping care for others, had a warm and welcoming personality, and was selfless. All of these qualities made her an excellent nurse as she cared for her patients. In addition to her love for nursing, she adored spending time with her grandchildren and family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Chris Herring; and mother-in-law, Bertha Herring.
Survivors include her loving husband of 30 years, Trent Allen Herring, Sr. of Waynesboro; mother, Patricia (Goolsby) Gibson of Fluvanna, VA; four children, Amanda Lynn Herring of Waynesboro, Trent Allen Herring, Jr. of Waynesboro, Jessica Ann Herring and fiancé, Bowie Hoyt of Craigsville, and Austin John Herring and fiancée, Alexis Buchanan of Craigsville; 12 grandchildren, Caleb, C.J., Ryleigh, Breanna, Layla, Harmony, Myka, Mason, McKenna, Kali, Luna, and Raelynn; two brothers, Jamie Gibson of Fluvanna, VA and Scot Gibson and wife, Monica, of Fluvanna, VA; sister, Becky Richmond and husband, Dallas, of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
