Barry W. Powers

He was born September 15, 1950, a son of the late Eldon “Buck” N. and Ruby (Shifflett) Powers.

Barry was a graduate of Fort Defiance High School and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

He served in the Nation Guard, was an avid hunter, softball player and retired from the former DuPont Company in Waynesboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl Shifflett.

Survivors include a brother, Charles E. Powers and wife, Jacqueline, of Fishersville; nephews, John Heffner and wife, Kalise, Rob Powers and wife, Michelle, and Clay Shifflett; nieces, Leslie Hulvey and husband, Mike, Cherie Harper and husband, Chip, and Jenny Myers and husband, Wayne. He also leaves a number of great nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Waynesboro Chapel of

Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Patrick Malphrus officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisonburg.

Active pallbearers will be David Fridley, Mike McInery, Keith Pitchford, Quinny Dofflemyer, Gary Ruckman, Mark Davis and George August.
