

Born September 9, 1940 in Fishersville, she was the daughter of the late Harry David and Helen (McComb) Hevener.
Ms. Melvin was a member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church. At Tinkling Spring she had been active with the Celebration Singers. She was employed by the former Waynesboro DuPont Plant as a Lab Technician and retired in 2002. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, reading and photography.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Taylor Ayres; as well as one brother, Henderson Hevener.
Survivors include her children, Leeza Crummett and husband Harry of Stuarts Draft, Harriet Thompson and husband Greg of Fishersville, Ann Ayres and husband Andrew of Stuarts Draft and Stephen Melvin and wife Tammy of Stuarts Draft; ten grandchildren and two great-grandsons; brother, Bill Hevener and wife Patsy of Richmond.
Following a private family burial, a celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, 30 Tinkling Spring Drive, Fishersville, with Rev. Tully Hunter and Rev. April Cranford officiating.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the music ministry at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, 30 Tinkling Spring Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939.
