She was born on December 5th, 1933, a daughter to the late Ernest Bailey Stafford and Virginia Sumption Stafford.
Betty was born in Pulaski County, Virginia and spent her life in Radford, VA, Richmond, VA, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. A proud member of the Radford High School Class of 1952, she excelled in academics and was an active participant in the National Beta Club and Girl Scouts in Radford. Betty fondly attended Massanetta Springs Presbyterian Camp during her youth, where she formed lasting memories. Betty married Robley Mosby Perrow on July 24, 1951 in Conway, SC, and devoted herself to being a loving homemaker and a mother to their five children: Robley Mosby Perrow IV, James S. Perrow, Susan Catherine Perrow, and Cheryl L. Perrow, and Austine Brook Perrow. Betty worked as an office assistant in various settings, including churches, organizations, and medical offices. Notably, she served as an administrative assistant for an ear, nose, and throat doctor in Atlanta, GA, and later worked as a secretary for Century 21 Real Estate in Waynesboro, VA.
Betty was the heart of her family, a true caregiver to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was the beloved “Mother Hen” of the family, always nurturing and caring for those around her. Betty joyfully hosted birthday celebrations, Easter feasts, Thanksgiving gatherings, and Christmas festivities, filling each occasion with warmth and love. Together with her husband Robley, they created a nurturing and inclusive environment that welcomed everyone into their lives. Wherever they lived became a cherished “Home Base” for their children and grandchildren, the place where all cherished memories were made. Betty, with her angelic soprano voice, loved to sing at every opportunity and found joy in listening to music whenever she could. Betty was incredibly creative, bringing beauty to life through her hands. She crafted stunning cross-stitched and needlepoint scenes that captured her imagination and artistry.
Betty cherished attending church with her husband Bob, immersing herself in the warmth of community as a devoted member of several Presbyterian congregations across Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Virginia. Her faith was evident in her active participation in Sunday school, Bible study classes, and Women’s Circle Meetings, where she nurtured connections and shared her love for the Lord. She also found joy and fellowship in the Homebuilders Sunday school class at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, where her spirit shone brightly among friends.
Betty is preceded in death by both father and mother, Ernest Bailey Stafford and Virginia Sumption Stafford; son, Robley Mosby Perrow IV; daughter, Catherine Susan Perrow; and lastly, her husband, Robley Mosby Perrow III.
