

Cecil Lough Boggs, Jr., entered his heavenly home October 24, 2024 with his daughters by his side at the home of his daughter Rebecca, with whom he presided for the past 3 years. Prior to that, he and his family were longtime residents of Dooms, Va.
Cecil was born March 23, 1926 in Goode, Va. to the late Cecil L. Boggs, Sr. and Desire Osterhout Boggs.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Eva Rhodes Boggs; sister, Desire Meek; brothers, George and Ralph Boggs; grandson, Callum Boggs and a son-in-law, Ashby Jones.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Michael T. Boggs (Cyndy) and their children Michelle Boggs, Richard Wright (Vicki), Catherine Manis (Aaron), Michael T. Boggs ll and Lauren Meslar (Chris); daughters Rebecca Jones and children, Travis and Amy Garris, Elizabeth Boggs and children, Benjamin and Matthew Jackson and Jessica Nobles (Ben); great-grandchildren, Mariah Bauman (John) Landon and Stephen Batkins, Dawson Jones, Jacob Garris, Liam, Eden and Piper Simpson, Noah Westenberger, Zaden and Quinn Nobles, Rick, Chance and Loretta Wright, Ayda Boggs, Carter and Thomas Manis, Lennox and Merrick Meslar, Eva Boggs and Keira Barratt.
Cecil retired from DuPont with 38 years of service. He was involved in multiple church and community activities.
Cecil was a founder of the Virginia Poultry Breeder association, President of the Virginia Bear Hunters Association, member of the Dooms Ruritan Club, 4-H Light Horse and Pony Club, VFW and American Legion.
He held many positions at Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren, was active in delivering meals on wheels and the local crop walk.
He was a Sunday School teacher for over 60 years and was active working on legislation to protect hunting rights in Virginia.
He was a WW ll Army Veteran and assisted in the polls for many years. He wrote articles titled Trigg Tracks for Chase and The Hunters Horn Magazines. His breed of Trigg hounds are continued throughout the United States.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Blue Ridge Chapel of the Brethren, 19 Browns Lane, Waynesboro with Pastor Mike Woods officiating. A meal will follow the service.
Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Dayton Cemetery with military rites.
Active pallbearers will be Travis Garris, Richard Wright, Michael T. Boggs, ll, Benjamin and Matthew Jackson, Don Boggs, Greg Alford and Phil Sandridge.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah or The Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren Building Fund, 19 Browns Ln Waynesboro, Va. 22980.
The family would like to thank his hospice caregivers Jeannie Pace, Nicole Senger, Mary Scott Miller, Hilda Vazquez, Lindsey Wallace and Dr. Christopher Heck.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
