Daniel Peter Hughes

Daniel Peter “Luvy” Hughes, 58, of Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at his residence. Mr. Hughes was born on February 22, 1964 in Waynesboro, and was a son of the late Donald and Gertrude Mary (Schmalzried) Hughes. He owned and operated a General Contractor company for many years. He enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors. He was an avid animal lover. Recently, he volunteered with the Wildlife Center of Virginia. Dan is survived by his close friend, Cherie Powers of Fishersville; and his siblings, Don Hughes of Los Angeles, CA; George Hughes and wife Marianne Blair of Waynesboro; Jim Hughes of Elkton, Mary Beth Lacy of Chicago, IL; Rick Hughes of New Hope, Michael Hughes of Harriston, and Robert Hughes of Crozet. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his siblings, Charlene Hughes, Larry Hughes, Joan Hughes, Tom Hughes; and a sister in law, Barbara Hughes. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Sunday September 11, 2022 at Orchard Creek, 1117 Meadowbrook Road, Waynesboro, VA 22980 beginning at 11 AM. His body was cremated.
