Nécrologie de Danny "Dad" Peyton
Daniel Lee “Danny” Peyton, 57, of Waynesboro, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born in Charlottesville and raised in Greene County. Danny was the oldest of three children born to the late Jack Lewis Peyton and the late Priscilla Lamb Breeden. He returned to Charlottesville during his high school years and graduated from Charlottesville High School where he was a member of the Choral Department. After high school, Danny married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Fulton. They were married for 37 years. Danny worked several short-term jobs, until finally landing at the University of Virginia Medical Center as an Office Services Attendant for the radiology department where he worked for 28 years. In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his siblings, Maggie Corbin and Kenneth Peyton. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Brandon Peyton, Lauren Peyton, and Ali Loe; and his grandchildren, Malachi Peyton and Oaklan Roberts. Also surviving Danny are a number of half and adopted siblings; extended members of the Peyton and Fulton families; and many dear friends. Danny greatly enjoyed walking on the beach, singing Motown music, cooking and particularly enjoyed a good happy hour. He was especially known for the secret wing sauce that he created. He shared certain parts of his recipe with some people and other parts of the recipe with others, purposefully to confuse people and protect his recipe. He wanted to patent, bottle and sell it. Danny had a big personality and an even bigger loving heart; he never met a stranger and welcomed people into his life with open arms. There are many, many children, throughout Waynesboro and Charlottesville, whom he wrapped his arms around and they called him "dad". He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on his beloved New Orleans Saints and many UVA teams. His signature cheer, whether for a team or his children’s school events, was a bellowing “HooWah” so that they would know it was him cheering them on. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 13, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account has been set up to help the Peyton’s with medical expenses. If you would like to donate, please use the provided link: www.gofundme.com/f/lift-up-nancy-peyton. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses in the MICU at UVA Medical Center for their kindness, compassion and heroic efforts. The Peyton’s would also like to thank Mike Dillard and the Image Management team for all of their help and support during this difficult time. To all of those who donated PTO, thank you for your generosity, it is greatly appreciated.
