

Dora Elizabeth (Craig) Carter, 77, of Waynesboro, passed away on Friday September 27, 2013 at Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
Mrs. Carter was born on November 8, 1935 in Waynesboro and was a daughter of the late Clarence and Lucy Elloise (Barker) Craig. Libby worked for Virginia Metal Crafters for 34 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch, talking to people and listening to music. She loved going to Charles Town to the casino. Libby was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, William David Carter.
Libby is survived by three siblings, a brother Clarence Wade Craig of New Hope; a sister Sylvia Harris of Waynesboro, a sister and caregiver, Judy Fisher of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips, Jamie Phillips, Paul Via; nine great-grandchildren, Nathan Via, Alysha Via, Brandon Phillips, Sierra Phillips, Nicholas Haynes, Sidney Haynes, Rebecca Via, Erica Via, Jaden Phillips; special friends Robin, Chris, Elroy; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Libby was preceded in death by two daughters, Deborah Via, Judith Phillips; son-in-law, Jimmy Phillips; a brother, Guy Craig; and a sister, Brenda Pitchford.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday October 1, 2013 at 2 pm at Augusta Memorial Park with Rev. Merle Fisher officiating. Friends and family are asked to gather at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home on Tuesday by 1:45 P.M. to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. Friends may also visit the home of her sister, Judy Fisher
