Doretha Mae Dahmer

Born January 22, 1928 in Brandywine, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Allen and Virginia Mae (Propst) Eye.

Mrs. Dahmer was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She retired as a Registered Nurse having been employed at different times with the former Kings’ Daughters Hospital, the former Waynesboro Community Hospital, Western State and the District Home. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and visiting the beach.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Morris Clinton Dahmer; son, Michael Dahmer; son-in-law, Michael Fitzgerald; brother-in-law, Masel Dahmer; sister-in-law, Myrtle May; sister-in-law, June Eye.

Survivors include her daughters, Dana Marrs and husband Robert of Waynesboro, Jane Fitzgerald of Waynesboro and Kim Wright and husband Chuck of Waynesboro; brother, Sheldon Eye of Waynesboro; sister, Arvonna Balsley of Goochland, VA; brother, Duaine “Bud” Eye of Waynebsoro; grandchildren, Kevin, Jake and Wes Marrs, Colby Dahmer, Carie Colvin, Holly Fitzgerald and McKenzie Fitzgerald; great-grandchildren, Sarah Catherine, Natalie and Elizabeth Marrs, Tyler and Corey Colvin, Kadin Marrs, Zachary Marrs, C.J. Bowden, Jr. and Waylon Craig.

Following cremation, a celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main Street, with Rev. Randy Blankenship officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.
