Dorothy Ellen Johnson

Miss Johnson was born September 10, 1952 in Stuarts Draft, a daughter of the late Arthur S. and Rhoda L. Johnson.

Dorothy was a member of Springdale Mennonite Church and retired from Shenandoah Nursing Home. She also worked at The District Home and Western State Hospital. Her busy part-time work was as a much rewarded Avon representative.

In addition to the death of her parents in 1996, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby K. Johnson in 2006.

Survivors include brothers, Daniel E. and wife, Brenda and Samuel A. Johnson, all of Stuarts Draft; sisters, Alice L. J. Falls, of Waynesboro, Anna M. Dettwiler of Shippensburg, PA, Ruth E. and husband, Howard Duncan of Staunton and Susan and husband, James Poole of Rockbridge Baths; and two wonderful nieces, Chery Dettwiler and Rosetta Dettwiler.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Springdale Mennonite Church with Rev. Kevin Goertzen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are her lovely nephews, Joseph Dettwiler, James Falls, Jr., David Duncan, Michael and Jeremy Harwley, Anthony, Charles and Keith Johnson. Honorable pallbearers will be small church group, John and Nancy Stoll, Danny and Sara Showalter, Brent and Cindy Houff, Jr., and Margie Showalter, Steve and Tammy Driver and Russ and Martha Laub; and great nephews, Tyler Falls and Jared Johnson.
