Dorothy Mae Wood

Dorothy Mae Wood, 78, of Waynesboro passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Staunton on September 20, 1941, a daughter of the late Wilbert White and Gladys Washington, who still survives.

Dorothy worked for many years as a cook at the University of Virginia.

In addition to her father, Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, Donald White and Betty White; and son-in-laws, Robert Brooks, Sr. and Mike Brown.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Alan White and wife, Mariah of Waynesboro, Deborah Brooks of Waynesboro, Teresa White of Waynesboro, Robert White and wife, Amy of Staunton, Larry White of Waynesboro, Lily Curry of Staunton, Priscilla Wood of New Jersey, and Eugene Wood of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Denika Wood of Staunton, Michael White of Waynesboro, Robert Brooks, Jr. of Waynesboro, Christopher Brooks of Lyndhurst, Mark Brooks of Waynesboro, Frankie Wood of Waynesboro, Lucas Wood of Waynesboro, Alan White, Jr. of Staunton, La’Tasha White of Waynesboro, Damian Wood of Waynesboro, Deshawn Wood of North Dakota, Jessica White, who Dorothy raised as daughter, of Maryland, Larry White, Jr. of Waynesboro, Eboni Wood of New Jersey, Darcel Wood of New Jersey, Shonta Hall of Waynesboro, Harmoney Wood of Richmond, Khadijah McCarthy of Waynesboro,Eugene Wood, Jr of Waynesboro, Jessica Harley of Staunton, Angel Marshall of Staunton, Bubby Marshall of Staunton, Jeremy Marshall of Staunton, Jessie Marshall of Staunton; 26 great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

Following a private service, a graveside service will be conducted at 2pm on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Augusta Memorial Park. Family and friends attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery and to please be wearing facial masks and practice social distancing.
