

Eileen Kay (Crawford) Balser, 70, of Waynesboro, passed away on Tuesday January 14, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Balser was born on August 2, 1943 in Waynesboro, and was a daughter of the late James Raymond and Eunice (Knicely) Crawford. Kay worked for the Waynesboro Public School System in the cafeteria of Westwood Elementary. She was a lifetime member of Basic United Methodist Church. Kay also babysat children, helped with weddings at the church, loved to cook, and especially loved animals.
On June 24, 1967 she married Benny Carl Balser who preceded her in death on November 14, 1984.
Kay is survived by three sisters, Shirley Snyder of Staunton, Frances Crawford of Waynesboro, Joan Kobus of Waynesboro; two nephews, Charles R. Snyder and wife Chrissy, Darryl R. Kobus; a niece, Cindy K. Zak and husband Edward; great-niece, Helen Zak; two great nephews, Ryan Zak and Sean Helmick; and numerous friends who will greatly miss her. In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was also preceded in death by a brother, James Raymond Crawford, Jr.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11 am at Riverview Cemetery with Pastor Don Gibson officiating. There will be no formal visitation; however, friends may visit Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes on Thursday from 9 until 5 PM. Friends may also visit the home of her sister, Frances Crawford.
