Ellen Mae (Persinger) Perry, 85, of Waynesboro passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Kings Daughters Community Health & Rehab in Staunton, VA. She was born in Waynesboro on May 3, 1934, a daughter of the late Alfred Watson Persinger, Jr. and Effie Ellen (Small) Persinger. Along with her late husband, Donald C. Perry, she was a co-owner of P & M Office Specialty, Inc. in Waynesboro. A graduate of Wilson Memorial High School, she is a former employee of Home Beneficial Life Insurance and Hajoca Corp. She was a long-time advocate for those with special needs, and a volunteer for Vector Industries, the ARC of Augusta and the Augusta County Public Schools Special Education Advisory Board. In her free time, she greatly enjoyed sewing, traveling, camping, and, in particular, bowling. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Allen and Alfred Persinger III, and Mary Ann Davis. Ellen was the last surviving member of her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ron Perry and wife, Tammy, of Waynesboro and Tina Perry of Raphine; grandsons, Jay Perry and wife, Jackie, of Ellicott City, MD and Andy Perry of Marysville, OH; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Mae Perry; brother-in-law, Ralph Perry and wife, Martha, of Waynesboro; sister-in-law, Norma Lindsay and husband, John of Waynesboro; sister-in-law Ann Perry of Staunton; sister-in-law, Helen Persinger of Raphine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be conducted at Augusta Memorial Park. There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ellen’s memory to Vector Industries, Waynesboro VA. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Kings Daughters and to Dr. Donald W. Lee and Dr. Christopher Heck for their loving care of Ellen and her family.
