
Ethel Virginia Whitten Kingsbury, 92, of Waxhall NC, formerly of Waynesboro VA departed this life to enter God’s heavenly kingdom on March 5, 2013. Ethel was born on July 26, 1920 in the community of Forks of Buffalo which is located in Amherst County Virginia. Ethel retired from E.I. DuPont Waynesboro Plant. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Waynesboro VA.
Although we grieve for ourselves, we rejoice in her life, forever feel the love she so graciously shared, and know her life was a blessing to all who knew her. Our hearts will always be filled with her love and spirit.
Ethel has joined her beloved husband of over 41 years who preceded her in death, Henry Owen Kingsbury. She was the daughter of the late Marvin and Pearl Whitten. Ethel was also preceded in death by two brothers Buren Whitten and Harrison Whitten. She was also preceded in death by five sisters: Cecil Nuckles, Mary Carroll, Lottie Coffey, Lucille Nuckols, and Virginia Ogden.
Ethel is also survived by one sister, Audrey Ogden of Roanoke Rapids, NC.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Kingsbury Stanley (Avis Stanley, deceased) of Fort Mill, SC., and two sons, Michael Kingsbury (Betsy) of Keswick, VA. and Steven Kingsbury (Beth) of Summerfield, NC. Ethel is survived by four grandchildren: Christopher Stanley (Brenda) Lovettsville VA, Erin Stanley Charlottesville, VA, Janet Kingsbury Sumner (Christopher) Stokesdale NC, and Lisa Kingsbury Stewart (Brad) Summerfield NC. Ethel is survived by five great grandchildren: Xander Decre, Ainsley Stanley, Kaitlyn Sumner, Jacob Sumner, and Jack Stewart. Ethel is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends with gather at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 9 at First Baptist Church, Waynesboro VA for visitation followed by a service of remembrance at 1:00 PM also at First Baptist Church, Waynesboro VA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Augusta Memorial Park. The service will be led by Dr. Louie V Andrews III, Pastor Rockfish Presbyterian Church, and Reverend David Washburn, Pastor First Baptist Church.
