Frances Marie Crawford, 84, of Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the hospice unit sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy of Stella Maris in Timonium, MD. Frances was born at King’s Daughters Hospital in Staunton to James Raymond Crawford and Eunice Pearl (Kniceley) Crawford on December 21, 1933. She grew up in Waynesboro and attended Waynesboro High School. Frances worked as an au pair to the children of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Gorsuch of Waynesboro: Peter, Kent, and Katharine. Having no children of her own, Frances was also godmother to Zia Howell McConnell. She was a member of Basic United Methodist Church and she enjoyed doing cross stitch and jigsaw puzzles. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her brother, James R. Crawford, Jr.; her sister, Eileen Kay Balser; and three brothers- in- law, Charles G. Snyder, Benny C. Balser, and Robert H. Kobus. Frances is survived by two sisters, Shirley C. Snyder of Staunton and Joan C. Kobus of Waynesboro; two nephews, Charles R. Snyder and wife, Chrissy, and Darryl R. Kobus and husband, Preston Benoit; niece, Cindy K. Zak and husband, Edward; great niece, Helen C. Zak; and a great nephew, Ryan M. Zak. Frances’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Sisters of Mercy at Stella Maris and to the caregivers and staff at Marley Neck Health and Rehabilitation Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 6:30p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery with Pastor Chad Beck officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.
