Gary Wayne Dunaway, 65, of Waynesboro, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012, at his home after a long illness. Gary was retired from UPS with 31 years of exemplary service. Gary was the son of the late Samuel Dunaway of Waynesboro and the brother of the late Sissy Summers of Lynchburg.
Surviving is wife, Judy Elkins Dunaway; his mother and stepfather, Ruth and Martin Duncan; a sister, Rita Zimmerman; a brother, Anthony Duncan; daughters, Dee Dee Martin and Kim Hahn; sons, Darin Dunaway and Jeffery Fry; three grandchildren, Crystal Robertson, Jeremy Hahn and Sean Fry; and one great grandchild, Liam Garcia-Robertson. Gary never met a stranger. He was a loyal Elks member. He could often be found there throwing horse shoes or improving the facility.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah. At Gary's request there will be no memorial service.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 2412 Mount Vernon Street, from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2012.
