

Gary was born in Harrisonburg, VA to the late Otis and Janice Lawson on October 31, 1962. On June 26, 2004, he married his long time love, Tammy Lawson, in Waynesboro, VA.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Lawson, and mother-in-law, Judy McDonaldson.
Gary is survived by his wife, Tammy Lawson of Waynesboro; daughters, Amber Lawson and
Husband, Benjamin Gregory of Charlottesville, Sarah Lawson-Fernandez and husband, Hugo Fernandez of Waynesboro, Abbagail Lawson of Waynesboro; son, Gary Lawson, Jr. and partner, Jackie Ledezma of Harrisonburg; brothers, Ronnie Lawson and partner, Kathy Shifflet of Elkton, Ricky Lawson and wife, Malynn of Elkton, Michael Lawson and wife, Tammy of Broadway, Jeremy Lawson and wife, Melissa of Keezletown; sisters, Aileen Moubray and husband, Dave of Elkton, Faye Goode of Elkton. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Elijah Lawson, Jocelyn Fernandez, Lucas Fernandez, Mackenzie Gibson, Kaiden Gibson, Jack Gregory.
Gary was a true gentleman; always generous with his time and always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. He was never confrontational, nor judgmental and had the ability to make fast friends with anyone he met. He was an avid outdoorsman and reader and could often be found fishing, hunting, working in his garden, or reading a western novel. He enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his grandchildren, imparting on them the importance of enjoying the little things in life. He cherished his time spent with his wife; drinking their morning coffee, listening to bluegrass music, and their many shared hobbies, as well as time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was decent and humble, smart and talented, kind and sincere. He will be cherished and missed everyday by all that knew him.
The family will have a Celebration of Life on May 14, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at their home, 627 Calf Mountain Rd., Waynesboro.
