

Born November 19, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Joseph Aaron and Anna Sophia (Hevert) Hawke.
In 1947 he married the former Eleanor Marie Lash of Providence, RI, who precedes him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, William Joseph Hawke and one sister, Eleanor E. Weber.
Mr. Hawke was a radioman in the Navy from 1941 to 1947, and R&D engineer for RCA, an electromechanical engineer for Power Generators, Inc., and GE Manager of Reports and Proposals at Valley Forge Space Center. In 1974 he and his family transferred to the GE DCPBD in Waynesboro, where he was a technical writer. He retired from GE in December, 1981 after 22 years of service, and was subsequently employed by GENICOM and John McNair and Associates.
He attended Yale and Brown Universities, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was a licensed professional Electrical Engineer in Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Mr. Hawke was Past Secretary of the Waynesboro Evening Kiwanis Club, a former Chairman and lifetime member of the Waynesboro Historical Commission, a volunteer with the Rockfish Gap Visitors Center, author of two books titled A History of Waynesboro, a member of the Waynesboro Heritage Museum and worked with the Plumb House Restoration Group.
Survivors include two daughters, Eileen Niksa of Philadelphia and Martha Hawke of Norristown, Pa.; one son, Robert Hawke and wife, Donna of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Stephen Niksa, Rachel Hawke, Skylar Hawke and Trevor Hawke; four great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Hawke, Stephen Niksa, Trevor Hawke, Dave Segars, Joe Moyer, Robert Moyer and Howard Roth.
The family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
