

He was born January 5, 1936 in Vermont, a son of the late George Wilbur and Addie West Stevens.
George retired as a Union Representative from United Electrical Workers of America, attended Lyndhurst United Methodist Church and was a member of the Wilson Volunteer Fire Company with over 20 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth Stevens, Ronald Stevens; and sisters, Louise Hartson and Barbara Gaudette
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Stevens; son, George “Chuck” Stevens (Carolyn) of Goshen; daughter, Julie Sprouse (Jeff) of Waynesboro; brother, Rodney Stevens (Monida) of Montana; sisters, Dolly Johnson (Ralph) of Vermont, Betty Phillips of Vermont; grandchildren, George Allen Stevens (Chrissy), Travis Stevens (Sarah), Michael Sprouse (Sandra), Stephanie Duffy (C.J.); as well as a number of great-grandchildren; and two special great-grandchildren, Reagan and Katelyn Duffy.
A service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Lyndhurst United Methodist Church, 2835 Lyndhurst Road, Lyndhurst with the Revs. Michael Pettry and Merle Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active and honorary pallbearers will be the firemen of Wilson Volunteer Fire Company.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main Street Waynesboro, Va. 22980.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Volunteer Fire Company, P O Box 157 Lyndhurst, Va. 22952.
