

He was born May 21, 1932 in S. Boundbrook, NJ, son of the late John and Mazie Baumeister Kohler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Kohler and twin sister, Eleanor.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in Military Science. He was retired from the U.S. Army having served in Iran, Alaska, Vietnam, Thailand. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, The U.S. Army Meritorious Service Metal and was an Army Airborne Jump Master. Lt. Col Kohler was an Eagle Scout, avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Elliott and Cynthia Churchill-Smith; four sons, Glenn Kohler, Jr., Robert Grant Kohler, Robert Richard Kohler and Samuel Glenn Kohler; grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Rankin, Jessica Lynn Grasmick, David O’Keefe, Andrew O’Keefe and Nancy Ann Smith; step grandsons, Mike Floyd and Brooks Floyd; great-grandchildren, Victoria Rankin, Braeden Glenn Rankin, Maddox Rankin, Toby Rankin and Bryanna Grasmick; and one brother, John Kohler.
A service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. Timothy Bohlmann officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Trinity Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Hal Chase, Dean Stenzel, Ron Senderling, Donna Senderling, Mike Floyd, Gloria Ellsworth.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro.
