Hugh Franklin Larew

Hugh Franklin Larew passed away at his home on Friday, May 11, 2018. He was born September 3, 1956, in Waynesboro a son of John Jacob Larew and Gayle Dary Larew. Prior to retirement, Hugh owned his own business where he developed a reputation for his stone masonry. His work was published in Southern Living and The Log Home magazines in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Hugh was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Often you would find him riding his Harley through Waynesboro and Staunton. He enjoyed bringing joy to people and volunteering his time to numerous non-profits within the community. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Larew, Jr. Hugh is survived by his significant other Wanda Fisher of Staunton; two sons, Jacob Larew and wife, Jordan, and their two children, June and John and Edward L. Larew of Stuarts Draft; two siblings, David L. Larew and wife, Sandy of Orlando FL and Mary L. Smith and husband, Robert of Greenville, NC; sister-in-law, Janice Larew of Troutman, NC; nephews and nieces, Brantley Larew of NC, Josh Larew of FL, Rachel Brown and husband, Chad of FL, Robin Smith and wife, Sara of NC; as well as several great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waynesboro with Rev. April Cranford officiating. The family will receive friends directly following the service at the church. In lieu flowers, the family requests for memorial contributions in Hugh’s memory to be made to Love Inc., P.O.
