

He was born in Waynesboro on May 7, 1925. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marion Humphreys, a brother, John Humphreys of Fishersville, and a sister Bea Harris, also of Waynesboro.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carmela Humphreys, a sister, Lucille Herron of Waynesboro, a brother, Wallace Humphreys of Knoxville, Tenn., a daughter, Cheryl Higginbotham and husband Jim of Waynesboro, a son, Johnnie Humphreys of Stuarts Draft, three grandchildren; Angela Wilfong of Front Royal, Va, Andrea Toman of Luray, Va, Kristina Kiesznowski of Syracuse, NY, six great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946, while serving he worked as a carpenters mate 3rd class on the USS Seid.
He worked for Reliable Home Equipment for 44 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Fishersville Baptist Church and the Waynesboro Moose Club. He was a very serious hunter, raised championship dogs, which were his love.
He was a member of Riverhead Coon and Bear Club. He was preceded in death by many of his close hunting buddies. He leaves behind a very dear friend, Petie Satterwhite.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes by Pastor James T. Higginbotham. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Petie Satterwhite, John Higginbotham, M.G.Herron, Randy Herron and great grandsons, Jessie Madaris, and Christian Roberson.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
