Janice Carole Smith

Janice was born in Pocahontas, Virginia, to Sally and Jesse Campbell on December 20th, 1940. She attended Beckley College, where she graduated with a secretarial degree. Janice worked as an executive secretary at Wayne Manufacturing for over five years before moving to Virginia National Bank, where she worked for another ten years. She then ran her own business, Double A Crafts and Gifts, before leaving the workforce to concentrate on raising her family. In her spare time, Janice enjoyed crafts, especially ceramics, and was extremely creative. She also loved to shop and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert Franklin Smith Jr; a brother, Bobby Campbell, and a sister, Rosalie Hiedorn.

Janice is survived by her sons, Robert “Bert” Smith III and wife Lorie of Moneta, Nelson “Nicky” Smith and wife Mary of Waynesboro, and Jesse “Aaron” Smith and wife Jessica of Waynesboro; her grandchildren, Kyle Smith and wife Beth, Lauren Smith, Hannah Emert and husband Joshua, Rachel Smitten and husband Noah, Paige Smith, Jenna Smith and Farrah Smith. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Hollis, Millie, Gabriel, Zachary, Addileigh, and Abby, as well as a special nephew, James Mitchell and wife Christy. In addition, Janice is survived by numerous friends; a large extended family; and her dearest canine companion, Bear.

A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, December 4th, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro.
