Jean Alice (Rodrick) Bogg

Jean was born in New York, NY. to William and Alice (Edgar) Rodrick on May 16, 1932. She graduated from Saugus High School, Boston University with a BS in Nursing, and Nova University, with an MS in Psychology. She worked as a public health nurse in Boston, Ma. before marrying and raising a family. Jean and William G. Bogg married in 1959 and had three children: Janet E. Merner of Twin Mountain, NH., William G. Bogg, Jr. of Charlottesville, Va., and Linda T. McDaniel, of Waynesboro, Va. Jean was a loving and generous grandmother to twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Jean and Bill traveled extensively during the course of their marriage and ownership of New England Stamp Company, representing several nations and exhibiting their products at trade shows around the world. They moved from Milton, Massachusetts to Naples, Florida in 1975, transferring their business and family to a much warmer climate, which they very much enjoyed. Once settled into an empty nest, Jean returned to school, earned a master’s degree, began teaching nursing, then eventually thrived in her third career as a Hospice Nurse.

Jean was an avid churchgoer, bridge player, gardener, bird watcher, shell collector, and animal lover, although her failing health during the last decade of her life kept her from enjoying those activities. She moved to the Waynesboro area in 2013 to be closer to her family, who have been privileged to care for her. Despite her failing health, her wicked sense of humor and humility never wavered, bringing joy and comfort to her extended family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, William (Bill) and Alice Rodrick, brother, Albert F. Rodrick, and former husband, William (Bill) Bogg.

A private graveside service will be held at Wenham Cemetery in Wenham, Massachusetts.

There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah or Shenandoah Valley Animal Services.
