
Joanie was born in Staunton, VA to the late John H. and Elizabeth (Marshall) Troxell on March 12th, 1959. She worked on the line for Neuman Aluminum Impact Extrusion in Verona. Joanie will be remembered for her outgoing, spirited nature. She was loving, kind, caring and enjoyed spending quality time with her family. In her spare time, she also enjoyed going to cookouts, watching gameshows, and playing computer games. She was also an animal lover, and cared for a diverse spread of pets over the years.
Joanie is survived by her beloved husband of 20 years, Greg Schofield; her son, Ernest Bartley and wife Chrystal; her daughter, Wendy Boxler and husband Jeremy; and her grandchildren, Kylie Bartley, Justice Boxler, Chase Boxler, Michael Boxler, Allison Boxler, and Sierra Boxler. In addition, she is survived by her brothers, Lee Troxell and wife Bonnie, Jonny Troxell and wife Lori, and Clay Troxell, as well as her sister, Carlotta Troxell. She is also survived by her K9 sidekicks, Banjo and Missy, as well as many other pets.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at a date and time to be determined, at New Hope United Methodist Church (55 Round Hill School Rd, Fort Defiance, VA) with Pastor H.K. officiating.
The family would like to acknowledge the loving bond between Greg and Joanie and how much they appreciate Greg taking such good care of Joanie as well as his step-children and grandchildren after they married in 2005.
