Born in Chicago in 1968, he grew up in Milwaukee, Detroit, and Virginia Beach.
He was educated at Elon College, Berklee College of Music, Vermont Instrument Workshop,
and the Chillicothe Sound Engineering School.
He moved to Hillsborough, NC, in his twenties and worked for Habitat for Humanity, where he rose to Construction Manager for Orange County. He then started his own construction company, Green Build LLC, operating in the Triangle region. Green Build offered design, renovation, and commercial and residential construction services for more than twenty years.
John’s avocation and real love was always music. After college, he toured with the Squirrel Nut Zippers, Dex Romweber, and Lustre, as road manager, sound engineer, and back-up guitarist. While pursuing his construction career, John spent much of his leisure time playing guitar with local bands.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Lewis Clark of Waynesboro, VA, and is survived by his father, John C. Clark, of Waynesboro, VA, his sister Caroline Clark Koppele, of Passaic, NJ, his daughter, Eliza Anne Clark, his son Henry Watson Clark, and the mother of his two children, Kathleen Crabbs, who live together in Hillsborough, NC.
A private family graveside service and reception will be held later this month.
