

She was born in Poland on October 20, 1941 and was brought to a Lutheran Orphanage in Regensburg, Germany in 1946.
She was adopted later by an American Military couple, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bean who were stationed in Regensburg and brought her back to the United States. She became a U.S. citizen at the age 13.
She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, Alexandria, Virginia and later Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Harrisonburg in 1962.
Later in life she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the Medical College in Richmond, Va.
She was able to work in her chosen profession for 43 years. The last 22 years were spent working at the University of Virginia on the orthopedic floor, a job she truly enjoyed. She retired from Uva in 2005. After retirement she pursued her hobbies of flower gardening, sewing, reading, yard sales, talking to friends over the phone and spending time with family.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her son, Stacy McDonald of Harrisonburg and his companion Judy Scotto of Waynesboro; a daughter, Amy McDonald of Waynesboro; grandsons, Ryan and Riley McDonald of Timberville, Va.
She also leaves behind her feline friend “Sheena”.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St. Waynesboro, Va.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to her favorite charity in honor of her husband, Phillip, to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
Those wishing to attend the service may meet directly at the cemetery.
