

Because of his faith in the Lord, his family takes great comfort and joy in the words of the Lord, “Let not your heart be troubled. I will come again and receive you unto myself.” Mr. Rittenhouse “Pete”, made many treasured friends over the years. His most recent were those at Waynesboro Manor who enriched his life greatly.
Born May 8, 1921 in Nelson County, he was the son of the late John James and Carrie (Kent) Rittenhouse.
Mr. Rittenhouse had been an active member of Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church. He had worked as a self-employed contractor. Having served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force, he was a part of the 3704th Army Air Force Base Unit in Keesler, Mississippi.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Lee Rittenhouse on May 14, 2010 and his daughter, Betty Jean Grimm on October 5, 2003. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Russell, William, Luther “Luke”, Julian, Malcolm “Jack” and Jessee; and a sister, Nellie.
Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn K. Hayden of Richmond, VA, and Nancy L. Dravis of Mississauga, Canada; sons-in-law, Donnie Y. Grimm and Thomas A. Dravis; grandchildren, Sonia M. Thompson, Kellie R. Grimm, Stacey G. Ferguson, Bradley A. Dravis, Holly D. Evans, James A. Hayden and Alecia A. Hayden; a number of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Belew and Agnes Lucas, both of Waynesboro.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Chuck Wiest officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
