June was born on March 17, 1928 in Greenwood, Arkansas. She fell in love with Tom, they married on September 12, 1946, and eventually moved to Houston, TX, where they made their home and raised a loving family. June lived in the Houston area until 2010, when she moved to Waynesboro to be near her older daughter. She was a member of the Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro. June was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed writing.
June’s sharp mind and inquisitive nature was evident throughout her life.
She was able to illustrate how one could grow old and still have a passion and love for all things. On a simple walk, June would notice not only a beautiful rose she found on her path, but the unique architecture of its stem, which would remind her of a particular bible verse, and connect her to the rest of the world around her.
June also had a great love of travel. During her life, she traveled all over the United States, and visited Canada, Mexico, Israel, all over Europe, and Japan. She had a love of learning to the very last day. She would often say, “The only thing I hate in this world is sin, snakes and kudzu”!
A celebration of June’s life will be held on Saturday, May 28th at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Essen Daley officiating.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood, Arkansas.
