

He was born November 1, 1934 in Stuarts Draft, a son of the late Floyd and Bessie Brooks Tisdale.
He served in the United States Army and retired from the U S Navy in January, 1980 as RM1-E6. He further retired from Valley Community Services Board and was a member of Hermitage Chapel.
When his health permitted, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Tisdale, three sisters, Elsie Davis, Jean Nelson,Violet Grepps and a brother, Carl Tisdale.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy “Dottie” Tisdale, two sons and daughter-in-laws, Jerry and Teresa Tisdale of Crimora, Roger and Cathy Tisdale of Staunton, two daughters and son-in-laws, Rena and Bobby Thomas of Crimora, Jan and Kevin O’Quinn of Blue Ridge, Georgia, two stepdaughters, Terry Hevener of Columbia, NC, Sissy Salwen and her husband Barry of Raleigh, NC, two stepsons, Danny Hevener of Staunton, Timmy Hevener of Stuarts Draft, a brother, Thomas Tisdale of Stuarts Draft, a sister, Evelyn Shifflett of Pottstown, Pa., eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a special friend, James ‘Pop” Runyon.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes by the Rev. August Lupino.
Burial will follow in White Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery with military rites provided by the Staunton VFW Post.
Active pallbearers will be members of the Staunton VFW Post.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren attending the service.
The family will receive friends from7-8:00 PM Monday, April 18, 2011 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hermitage Chapel, P O Box 1521, Waynesboro, Va. 22980.
