N. Eugene Simmons

N. Eugene Simmons, 83, of 211 George Home Road, passed away at 5:54 PM Thursday, October 24, 2013 at his residence.

He was born June 10, 1930 in Sugar Grove, West Virginia, a son of the late Clay and Lottie Mitchell Simmons.

He served in the United States Navy for four years, was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and retired from the DuPont Company as a computer operator.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Claudette K. Simmons, a daughter, Erica S. Williams, two brothers, Hershel B. Simmons, Raymond C. Simmons, two sisters, Mildred S. Crummette and Edna C. Wilson.

Survivors include a daughter, Leslie S. Fitzgerald and husband JJ of Waynesboro, a sister, Virginia S. Harris of Staunton, six grandchildren, Christian Williams and wife Tonya, Gregory Williams and wife Erika, Andrew Williams and wife Kelly, Benjamin Williams and wife Courtney, Laurie Wright and husband Corey, Allison Fitzgerald and seven great grandchildren.

Following a private family burial, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 15, 2013 at Bethany Lutheran Church by Pastor Tim Bohlman.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Crematory.
