

He was born July 29, 1934 in Springdale, Ohio, son of the late George Songer and Dorothy Songer Hayes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Songer.
He had been an avid stamp and coin collector and a member of the Waynesboro Country Club. He was also an avid aviation enthusiast. He retired from Genicom as the Vice President of Service. In retirement he liked to spend time at coin and gun shows, tinkering with his antique car with his best friend, Gary Cook and spending time with his family and three kitties.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Songer; two daughters, Amy Murphy and husband Shawn of Sacramento, CA, Trisha Durfee and husband Thomas of Waynesboro; one son, Jeffery Songer and wife, DeeDee of Covington, LA; grandchildren, Jeffery and Jason Songer, Kelsey and Taylor Eutsler, Nathan and Samuel Durfee; two sisters, Marilyn Hayes and Glenna Carmack, both of Cincinnati, OH; one nephew, Matthew Schwerman.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes (Location has been changed to the Waynesboro First Aid Building due to loss of power) with Pastor Bob Johnson officiating.
