Robert "Bobby" Osborne Frye

Robert “Bobby” Osborne Frye, 80, of Waynesboro passed away peacefully, August 18, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. He was born May 26, 1932 in Waynesboro, son of the late Harry and Thelma Frye of Waynesboro.

Bobby was a member of Lyndhurst United Methodist Church. He retired from Service America (formerly The Macke Company) after 40 years of service in 1995.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon, and he was a Dallas Cowboy and Atlanta Braves fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Johnny and Margaret Frye, of Fort Lupton, Colorado and his son-in-law Michael W. Claytor of Waynesboro.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Fisher Frye: four daughters, Becky F. Comer and husband Darryl of Waynesboro, Carolyn F. Shull and her husband Carl of Waynesboro, Teresa F. Floyd and her husband Tony, of Lyndhurst and Robin F. Hundley and her husband Nick, of Waynesboro. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Michele L. Astarb and her husband Nick, of Swoope, Stacy A. Comer and his wife Chastity, of Lyndhurst, and Brent A. and Brittany N. Floyd of Lyndhurst, as well as four great grandchildren, Aiden Astarb (his Saturday-night buddy), Dylan, Jenna and Bently Comer. Bobby is also survived by two brothers, Billy Frye and his wife Mary of Waynesboro and Peyton Frye and his wife Judy of Jacksonville, Florida and several nieces and nephews.

Bobby will be missed by so many people; it was obvious at his bedside that he was loved and admired. His memory will live on in all who knew him forever. He fought this disease with grace and dignity always thinking and putting his family first.

The family would like to thank the Skilled Care Nurses at Augusta Health and the HOPE Cancer Center for the care they gave to Bobby; he loved his “girls at The Hope Center” who referred to him as Dr. Frye.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes Waynesboro Chapel with the Rev. Mike Pettry officiating. Burial will be at Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Darryl Comer, Stacy Comer, Tony Floyd, Brent Floyd, Carl Shull, Nick Astarb, Nick Hundley and Bill Templeton.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lyndhurst United Methodist Church attending the service.
