The Hall family in eastern WA sends our condolences to the Smith family with the passing of Roddy. May you rest in peace with the Lord Roddy and your  Dad , Mom, Sharon and Tony.   Our families go back to the good ole days growing up in Wayne Hills and Waynesboro. I have many fond, happy, positive memories growing up with all of you.   You all are in my thoughts and prayers may the Lord bless you in your time of sorrow and grief. Roddy was an awesome man, caring, kind, unselfish, with a wonderful sense of humor, he always had time to talk to an old friend that he hadn't seen in a while. When I say we go back, we truly do my Dad and Joe Smith worked together at General Electric. Joe and Gladys were awesome people and parents that instilled values, manners, morals and respect with their children and Roddy was a fine example of this.  May you rest high on the mountain and know that you are loved by Family and Friends, you will be missed but not forgotten.

I am so thankful that I was able to see and visit Roddy recently. I am so sorry  for your loss. I am sad to say I am out of town so I will not be able to be at his funeral. I will be praying for your family during this time.

Roddy remained a good friend to us all all through the years. He was a wonderful father to my kids. I would not have had it any other way. They loved him very much.  He will be very missed. 


Alot of good times with the Smith and Jones families for a long time. Wayne Hills wasn't safe...RIP, Roddy....another set a wings are flying high.  Many prayers to the entire family

Oh, what memories are flowing now. How our families were so close. How our moms and dads were such good friends. Roddy was such a big part of my childhood, along with all the other Smith kids. I remember playing at the house on King Ave., walking to the Frog Pond to buy penny candy, playing in the alley and crawling through the storm sewer (what the heck were we thinking? but it was exciting!). And I remember you all coming over to our house for picnics at the park and in the backyard. And the easter egg hunts! You guys always found a ton of eggs, and I was not as lucky (or as sharp-eyed)! I remember when our dads brought puppies home to us for Christmas from the same litter. You named yours Princess, and we named ours Major. What wonderful memories. Roddy grew up to be a good man and such a gentleman. He was always so attentive to Mom as she grew older, just as he was to his own mom. There's a big hole in the world now that he has left it, but I like to think of him catching up with those who loved him who went before: Joe, Gladys, Sharon, Tony, our mom and dad... I'm so glad I knew Roddy. I'm so glad our families have such fond memories together. I'm so sad that Roddy is gone. Love and light to you all. 

I moved away years ago and haven't seen you in a while. I always enjoyed hanging out with you from time to time. You was a very good guy and friend. You will truly be missed. Rest in peace my friend. Prayers for the family

I hold our childhood years and Wayne Hills days close because those are memories I cherish to this day. The best friendships. Roddy will always be a part of those memories. I love you guys.

In addition to his parents,Joseph Neal and Gladys Lourene (Shotwell) Smith, 
he was preceded in death by his siblings, Tony Sanford Smith, and Sharon (Smith) Wright.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, F. Scott Smith of Waynesboro, Deborah Smith of Clearwater, FL, and Lisa Balser and her husband, Jimmy of Greenville; a number of nieces and nephews, Michael Smith, James, Caleb, and Sarah Balser, Heather J. Smith; great-nieces and nephews, Courtney Smith, Brayden Smith, Drew Boehm, and Emma Gomez; Robert, Kirk, and Crystal Fuller, who were like his children; as well numerous extended family and friends. All the children in his life were greatly loved by him.
