Ronnie Wayne Quick, 70, of Afton passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Augusta Health. Born November 16, 1942 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Glennie Colbert and Catherine Critzer Quick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Colbert Quick. Ronnie was a member of Rockfish Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during 1961-64 (Cold War Era) with the rank of Sgt. He retired in 2000 from Waynesboro DuPont Plant after 38 years of service. Ronnie joined the Waynesboro Police Department Reserves in 1981 where he served for 32 years and presently had the rank of Colonel. The police department was his love of life. He enjoyed staying busy and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Since retiring from DuPont, he worked part time at the Afton Service Center. Survivors include his wife Vonda Hottinger Quick; three sons, Kevin Quick of Afton, Glenn Quick and wife Kristie of Fredericksburg, VA and Jason Quick and wife Sara of Stuarts Draft; one sister, Carolyn Quick Campbell and husband Cecil of Fishersville; four grandchildren, Leah, Andrew, Jacob and Allison; numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Bobby Hottinger and wife Sylvia; two sister-in-laws, Beverly Kennedy and husband Skip and Pamela Brooks and husband Terry. He is also survived by his K-9 friends, Zach and Dash. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro. A service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Hebron Baptist Church of Afton with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Burial will follow at Rockfish Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Greenfield with Military Honors by the U.S. Army and American Legion Post 340. Active pallbearers will be the Waynesboro Police Department. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 922 Forest Hill Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23235.
