

Born September 30, 1946 in Virginia, he was a son of the late William Viar and Josephine (Campbell) Camden.
Prior to retirement, he was employed by UPS for 29 years where he worked as a truck driver. Roy was a U.S. Veteran having served his country honorably with the Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge #1309 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles – Augusta County #4129.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Herring and Mary Groah; and three brothers, Pete Viar, Ernest Viar, and Jesse Viar.
Survivors include his three daughters, Tina Cross and husband, Charlie of Scottsville, Tammy Viar of Lynchburg, and Wendy Wood (Weldon Hostetter) of Staunton; son, Robert Wood of Staunton; sister, Nancy Woodson; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Rockgate Cemetery, 981 Crozet, Ave., Crozet with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
