Shirley Mae Lowery Braden

2011 at Augusta Health.

Born November 21, 1939 in Augusta County, she was the daughter of the late Granville R. and Ruth Lee Robertson Lowery.

Shirley worked for Waynesboro Nurseries, Inc. and had been employed there for 56 years. Shirley will be remembered as the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted sister a family could have. She loved life, worked hard, loved planting flowers, riding her lawn mower, gardening, watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Ruthie E. Braden of Stuarts Draft; brother, Norman E. Lowery of Stuarts Draft; sisters, Alese Lowery of Stuarts Draft and Dorothy E. Baber of Stuarts Draft; sister-in law, Darlene M. Lowery of Stuarts Draft; as well as special companion, Ponzie.

Survivors include her daughters, Angela “Angie” Braden of Stuarts Draft, Teresa “Teri” Brown and husband Richard “Richey” of Greenville and Donna “Donnie” Loan of Stuarts Draft; brothers, Lawrence and wife Rita Lowery of Stuarts Draft and Dennis “Denny” Lowery of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Michele “Missy” Loan of Staunton, Leslie Loan of Staunton, Clinton “Dale” Loan, Jr. and wife Amanda of Stuarts Draft and Elizabeth Mae Lee Braden of Stuarts Draft; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kayley, Summer and Isaac Hartless of Staunton, Kenna “M&M” and Kristi McCray of Staunton, Madison, Buddy and Peyton Loan of Stuarts Draft; nephew, Russel W. Lowery of Stuarts Draft; niece, Barbara R. Case of Stuarts Draft; special friends of the digging crew “the boys” of Waynesboro Nurseries, and also two special little friends Isai and Lluvia Zamudio. She is also survived by her second family, Duke Zamudio , Armando Zamudio, and Mark and Amy DeMoss.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main Street, with Pastor Earl Monroe officiating. Burial will follow at Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Duke Zamudio, Armando Zamudio, Dave Quillen, Mark DeMoss, Bubby Campbell and Bucky Robertson.

Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers of Waynesboro Nurseries and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the funeral home and other times at the home place and residence of Lawrence and Rita Lowery.
