Shirley Grace Brooks

Born January 10, 1944 in Staunton, she was the daughter of the late Arlie and Mary (Grogg) Hise.

Mrs. Brooks retired from CVS Pharmacy. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family and most importantly her grandchildren. She also enjoyed hearing her grandson's band play, baking cakes, making candy and sewing.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Danny" Brooks, Sr. who passed away October 8, 2002.

Survivors include daughter, Sherry and husband David Burnett of Waynesboro; son, Charles Brooks, Jr. and wife Cindy of Waynesboro; daughter, Penny Dove and husband Roy Dove, Jr. of Fort Defiance; sister, Brenda Ott of Waynesboro; brothers, Ray and wife Carolyn, Jay and wife Jane and Tommy and wife Becky Hise all of Waynesboro; grandchildren, James Painter and fiance Andrea Walker, Erin Brocato and husband John, Becca Painter, Virgil Allen Dove, Amber Bowling and fiance Brad Lamb, Hannah Burnett, Dallas Dove, Dylan McCauley; great grandchildren, Katryna Painter, which she was especially close with, Katelyn, Heidi and Leah Brocato and Isiah Welch; special niece, Amanda Ott; as well as k-9 companion, Smokey.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main Street, with Pastor Matthew Coiner officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the funeral home and other times at her residence.
