

Born November 17, 1946 in Nelson County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Hazel Mason (Carter) Bryant. On December 1, 1973, he married the love of his life, Linda (Pforr) Bryant. The two shared a blessed union of 40 years together.
Bill had most recently been employed with Walmart where he had worked as a door greeter for almost six years. Having spent 41 ½ years of his life dedicated to emergency services, he served with the Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department for 24 ½ years, the Dooms Volunteer Fire Department and lastly the Wilson Fire Company for over 15+ years. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America where he acted as a troop leader for Pack #137 and Troop #84. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and working outside.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four infant siblings.
In addition to his loving wife, survivors include his children, William Bryant, Jr. of Waynesboro, James Robert Lee “JimBob” Bryant and wife, Amy of Stuarts Draft, Linda Ann Bryant and fiancé, Mack Mays, Jr. of Madison Heights, VA and Karen Renee Meadows and boyfriend, Jeremy “Fuzzy” McGlothlin of Waynesboro; siblings, Shelby Mills of Crozet, VA, Roger Lee “Sonny” Bryant of Waynesboro and Anna Floyd and husband, Ernest of Mt. Solon, VA; grandson, Derek Austin Bryant; granddaughter, Sharon Vickers-Bryant; special friends, Walter Robinson, Bobby Mays and Blake Fitzgerald; as well as his dog friend, Scooter.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Wilson Volunteer Fire Company with Pastor Gary Major officiating. Burial will follow in Rockfish Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Warren Wood, Jr., Robert Wood and the Waynesboro Fire Department Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Waynesboro Fire Department.
