

He was born September 12, 1950, in Staunton, Virginia, the son of the late William Talbott Ellison and Eleanor Audrey Mugele Ellison.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wanda Kay Falls Ellison; daughter, Ashley Marie Ellison Flock; grandson, James Ellison Flock; former son-in-law Brian Lee Flock; sister and husband, Cheryl Lynn Ellison Schlueter and Norris Dean Schlueter of St. Joseph, IL.
Other family members include: nephew Keith Allan Schlueter and wife Michelle Miller Schlueter of St. Joseph, IL; niece Amy Lynne Schlueter and wife, Michelle Anne Harney Schlueter of Saint Louis, MO; sister-in-law Donna Aurelia Falls Lester and brother-in-law, George William Lester (dec.): nephew Whitney Clark Lester, and wife Barbara Cermak Lester, of Waynesboro; niece, Rachel Erin Lester Grant and husband, Jeremy Wayne Grant of Davie, FL; five dear cousins: Deborah Kay Ellison Hocking (dec.); Warren Jackson Ellison of Framingham, MA; Rev. John Randolph Ellison, Jr. of Independence VA; Pamala Susan Ellison Ulrich of Cloverdale, VA; Lynn Scott Ellison Gulley of Cary, NC; and their families.
Terry was educated in Waynesboro Public Schools. Following family tradition, he spent his high school years attending Fishburne Military School, graduating in 1969 as Captain, "A" Company Commander and Commander of the Hudgins Rifles Precision Drill Team; he attended Belmont Abbey College with four years of liberal arts studies majoring in Political Science.
Terry returned to his beloved hometown and began to work for the city. He retired as Superintendent of Public Works Operations for the City of Waynesboro following 35 years of faithful service. His work ethic and compassionate care earned him admiration and respect from employees who knew him.
Terry received his Confirmation as a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro. His faith in Jesus Christ was important to him and he was fond of daily time with the Lord for prayer and meditation.
Terry was a fifth generation Freemason and became very active in the Fraternity culminating in his being unanimously elected to the honor of serving as Grand Master of Masons in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2012. He enjoyed the travelling, fellowship, and lifelong friendships developed through his involvement in Masonry and appendant bodies including Shriners, National Sojourners, Knights Templar, DeMolay, and was a recipient of the Scottish Rite 33d degree.
Terry was a Friend of Bill and extended associates. He possessed a deep love for the outdoors. Friends and acquaintances will remember his smile and caring heart, his distinct voice, his sense of humor, and his sharp wit.
Our family has been blessed to have such a wonderful and caring man who lived a very full and productive life caring for others in his own unique way.
A visitation for friends and family will be held Friday, April 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Lee Lodge 209, located at 1600 West Main Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980. A graveside service is planned for 12:00 noon Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Riverview Cemetery, 420 Rosser Avenue, Waynesboro, VA 22980 with Masonic Rites by the Grand Lodge of Virginia and Lee Lodge 209.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be sent to Shriner's Hospitals for Children through Lee Lodge 209, 1600 West Main Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
Terry's last wishes are to thank those who contributed so much to his life. His life was a testament to the transformative power of Faith, Hope, and Love and his light in this world will be missed.
