Glen was born in Harrisonburg, Va, a son of the late Anna Myra and William Glenn Hinkle on September 29, 1946.
He married Alice Marie Rodgers on August 16, 1980 in Waynesboro, Va. He went to school at Valley Vocational Technical School for Drafting and Design. Glen was originally a Draftsman/Engineer for Dunham Bush. Glen then joined Hopeman Brothers of Waynesboro, Va. At Hopeman Brothers/US Joiner, he was a Draftsman/Engineer, a Safety Director, Director of Engineering, Director of Shipyard Operations, and lastly as the Director of Safety and Quality.
Glen is survived by his wife, Alice Marie Hinkle of Waynesboro, Va; his children, William (Bill) Hinkle and wife, Shelia of Manteo, NC, Robert Hinkle and wife, Angie of Goldston, NC and Laura Padgett and husband, Joel of Hoschton, Ga; sisters and brother, Fran Wright and husband, Bill of Collegeville, Pa, Mary Garber of Waynesboro, Va and Mike Hinkle and wife, Karen of Staunton, Va.; grandchildren, Dillon and Nicholas Hinkle, Alexis, Joshua, Ethan, and Noah Hinkle, and William and Ryan Padgett.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. John Moses officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his brothers-in-law, Frederick Rodgers, Jerry Rodgers, Richard Rodgers, Leonard Rodgers, Donald Rodgers, and nephews, James Rodgers, Drew Rodgers, and Neal Shuey.
