

William Daniel “Bill” Via, 88, of Waynesboro passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Birch Gardens Assisted Living. He was born in Augusta County on January 6, 1929, a son of the late Elzy J. and Gladys (Marshall) Via.
Bill was a member of Grottoes Church of the Brethren and the Travelers Protective Association. From 1946 until his retirement, he was the owner of Via Construction Corporation. Bill believed that spare time was wasted time, but he greatly enjoyed spending that spare time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth (Yonce) Via and brothers, Elmer Elzy Via and Herman Lee Via.
Survivors include his children, Charles Daniel “C.D.” Via and wife, Carolyn of Pickerington, Ohio, Clay William Via and wife, Molly of Waynesboro and Sharon Ann Wood and husband, Roger of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Darrin Via and wife, Amanda, Derek Via and wife, Terra, Brandon Via and wife, Amy, Tyler Wood, Braxton Via and Ashlyn Via; great grandchildren, Kenzie, Addie, Hailey, Joey, Lauren and Luke; siblings; Louise C. Brown, Lois Randall Wimer, Eldridge F. Via, Wayne G. Via and Judy C. McDorman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. Leon Via III officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Greater Virginia Office, 1503 Santa Rosa Road, Suite #120, Richmond, VA 23229 and/or the Hospice of the Shenandoah c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 100, Fishersville, VA 22939.
