Betty Louise Scott

She was born December 17, 1921 in McKeesport, PA to the late Mark Gordon and Nettie Rinehart Morris.

On July 29, 1939 she married James F Scott, who passed away on November 1, 1990.

            Betty was the 2nd generation owner of the Fashion Shop in Waynesburg, a business started by her aunt Fannie Rinehart Whitlatch. In it’s 77th year of operation, it is currently owned by 3rd & 4th generation descendants.

            She was a lifelong member of Oak View United Methodist Church (formerly Morrisville Methodist) who enjoyed singing, playing the organ and was an avid card player. She was also a member of Cornerstone Genealogical Society, DAR-John Corbly Chapter, Waynesburg Chamber of Commerce and the Dotysburg Reunion Committee.

            She is survived by three children: Edward C. Scott, of Elizabeth City,NC., Christine Kiger, of Waynesburg, PA., and Sally S. Cameron (Donald R.), of Washington, PA.and a daughter-in-law, Carol Scott of Waynesburg, PA. She was “Nanny” to her 7 grandchildren: Rick Scott(Tanya), Stacey Thomas(Dave), Corry Isel(Bill), Jason Garber(Gretchen), Amy Widdup(Jeff), Reeda Thorne(Jason), Melissa Thomas(Craig), 12 great-grandchildren: Allison Sisler(Ben), Emma Scott, Jordan Scott, Mackenzie Thomas, Isla Garber,

Hannah Widdup, Aliza Widdup, Kyrstan Thorne, Kullen Thorne, Cody Thorne, Jake Thomas, Elana Thomas, and 1 great-great-grandson, Carson Sisler. A close niece and nephew: Betty Carol Canan and Neil Canan.

Deceased is one son, James M Scott; one sister, Nelle M Canan; an infant brother and her close nephew, Dick Canan.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370. Where services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 1, 2017 with Reverend Susan Hoover officiating. Burial will be at the Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Twp., Greene County,PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Oak View United Methodist Church, 160 Rolling Meadows Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
