Known to most as "Sue," she was the youngest daughter of William and Edna Elliott Snyder of California, PA where she was born and spent her childhood. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by one sister Wanita (Kennedy). She is survived by her sister Donna (Duvall).
Sue was the wife of the late Donald L. Corbett with all the attendant joys and privileges of being married to a PA state trooper, such as keeping three children quiet all day while Don works "midnighters."
Mother of Laura (Scott Lewis) of Wyckoff, NJ, William and Jon (Jennifer) Corbett, both life-long Waynesburg residents. To her grandchildren Taylor and Ryan Lewis of NJ, Emily Corbett, Lindsey (Corbett) Phillips (Sheldon) and, Brooke and Brilee Corbett she was summer vacations at the beach, walks and thoughtful conversations, coloring Easter eggs, snacks and movies and fun. In the last three years, she welcomed her first and second great grandchildren with the satisfaction of seeing her family continue to grow and thrive.
An avid reader, life-long devoted member of the Democratic Party, dog lover and crossword puzzler, she also loved to be outside with her flowers and talking with neighbors.
A fixture in the Parole and Probation office in town for many years (as an employee, not a client!) Sue often said she laughed every day and loved her co-workers. She continued working well into her seventies, not because she had to, but because she wanted to.
It is impossible to encapsulate this woman and her intellect in this space. Her decline due to Parkinson's Disease these last several years was terrible for her and nearly unbearable for those of us who love her. She was determined to "do it her way" and so she did until her final days.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm the hour of funeral services in the Behm Funeral Home, 182 W. High Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her name be made to the Humane Society of Greene Co., 183 Jefferson Rd, Waynesburg, PA 15370 or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (www.michaeljfox.org). Condolences may be expressed online at www.behmfh.com.
