

He was born Wednesday, February 07, 1951 in Core,WV. A son of the late Truman "Bill" Edmond Layton and Ethel Mae Pyles Layton.
Mr. Layton was a member of the Buckeye United Methodist Church. He attended Clay-Battelle High School. He was a construction worker and belonged to the Concrete Finishers Union. He also was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a member of Local #379. He enlisted with the U.S. Army and served from November 1969 through November 1971, during the Vietnam War. He was stationed for 18 months in Germany. He also served 1 year with the 201st Army National Guard in Morgantown,WV. While in the service he received the Expert Marksman Badge on M-14 and the Good Conduct medal. He enjoyed working with his father on the farm raising fruits and vegetables in his garden. When his health permitted he loved hunting. Mr. Layton had a small deer processing business for many years. One of his favorite things to do was spend time with his grandchildren. He was retired and was disabled in 2002 from the United Mine Workers Association District 4 coal mine.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Dianna C. Johnson Layton, whom he married on February 09, 1973.
Also surviving are 2 Daughters: Rebecca (Hank) Reynolds, of Pentress, WV., Barbara (Matt) Sickles, of Core, WV.,
3 Sons: Rick (Andrea) Layton, of Waynesburg, PA., Tracy (Tammy) Layton, of Core , WV., and Stacey (Pamela) Layton, of Morgantown, WV., 14 Grandchildren: Daniel and Drew Layton, Travis (Jana) and Trevor Layton, Jessica, Janelle, Dalton, and Brooklyn Layton, Madison and Gavin Reynolds, Jessica Wolf, Tasha Reynolds, Logan Sickles, Courtney Cuthbert, and 7 Great Grandchildren, 1 Sister: Connie (Bob) Ammons, of Core, WV., 2 Brothers:Tom (Mary Ann) Layton, of Core, WV., William "Willie" Layton, of Core, WV. and several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews,and cousins.
Deceased are 1Grandson: Brandon Thomas Reynolds,
2 Sisters: Mary Louise Brookover and Linda Sue Layton who died in infancy.
Friends will be received from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 26, 2016 in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH, Inc. Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director,324 Mt. Morris Road, P.O. Box 478 Mount Morris, PA 15349 where services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with Elder Alan Adams officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris, PA. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the James T. Maxon American Legion Post #992 in Mt. Morris and representatives of the United States Army.
