He was born in East Waynesburg, PA on September 09, 1942 to the late Lewis J. Rush, Sr. and Pearl Pixler Rush. He was the last of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by his wives: Mr. Rush married the late Billie Redford Rush (1983), Susan Shelburne Rush (1994) and Amelia Carbajal Diaz Rush (2021).
He was also preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Glen Pixler and Alvin L (Sonny) Rush; 3 sisters, Carolyn Jean Rush, Helen Marlene Deuesenberry, and Patricia K. Rush; niece, Brenda Pierce; and a Great Nephew, Jacob Lewis-Edward Harrison.
He is survived by his niece; Joy McClurg Harrison and nephew, Eric R Rush; a great niece Kelsey M Harrison, Esquire and a great-great niece, Lillie K Harrison. He is also survived by his special friend, Krystal Vaughan.
He graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1961 and was an athlete playing football, wrestling, and track. He was proud to be part of the Rush clan that dominated Waynesburg back in the day.
He was proud of his service to our country and served from 1961 to 1967. He reenlisted into the Medical Corp in 1974 and retired in 1987. His service took him to Ft. Meade, Ft. Sill, Ft. Sam Houston, Ft. Gordon, Ft. Colorado Springs and 2 bases in Germany.
He served with the Waynesburg Volunteer Fire Department from 1967 until he returned to military service in 1974.
He was proud of his part in organizing the Greene County Women’s Softball League and serving as its first President and in coaching a great group of girls on the JoAnn’s team. He also coaching Little League baseball. I would say he loved all sports except Hockey and Golf. He was always until his death a Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.
In his later years before his failing eyesight took over, he was a diligent reviewer of family genealogy, helping many families discover their roots.
He had a great love for music and was known to write many song lyrics and in his later years supported and managed many artists.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.behmfh.com for the Rush family.
