

She was born October 2, 1916, at Lock Haven, a daughter of the late James Allan Miller and Bessie F. McGhee Miller Wolfe. She was raised by her grandmother, Harriett Canfield McGhee Johnson.
On January 14, 1937, she married John J. Rock in Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Cumberland, MD. He was known by most friends as Sgt. Rock of the Pennsylvania State Police.
Mrs. Rock was employed by the First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Greene County in Waynesburg for 52 years. She retired on her 88th birthday. She was the first Welcome Wagon hostess in Greene County.
She resided most of her life in Waynesburg where she was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was named a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.
Mrs. Rock had traveled extensively and at one time resided in Christ Church, New Zealand for 8 months. She raised dogs, and had a great interest in horses, especially the Lipizzan horses of Vienna. Her hobbies included knitting and playing the organ.
Surviving are a son, John F. “Jack” Rock (Margaret) of Waynesburg; a granddaughter, Suzanne Nelson of Salt Lake City; a great-granddaughter, Katie Griggs Nelson; and a sister, Ann Wolfe Best of Winston-Salem, NC.
Deceased are brothers Saylor Miller, Clifford Miller and William Wolfe; sisters Jenny Miller Wert and Pauline Miller Lupold all of the Lock Haven area.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 232 East High St., Waynesburg with the Rev. John Bauer as celebrant. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rotary Foundation, PO Box 290, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
