Richard Taylor Bell

Richard Taylor Bell, 76, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on December 15, 2024. Born on September 11, 1948, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, Richard was the son of Robert and Norma Bell and the beloved brother of Linda L. Bell and Robert N. “Skip” (Michele) Bell.

Richard grew up in Waynesburg, where he developed a strong sense of duty and an enduring love for aviation. This passion led to a distinguished 22-year military career as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3) helicopter pilot. He proudly served his country, completing a tour in Korea and later contributing his skills as a contracted pilot in Kuwait during the war.

Following his military retirement, Richard continued his aviation career with PHI in Lafayette, Louisiana, providing offshore helicopter services. His dedication to his craft and adventurous spirit left a lasting impression on those he worked with.

Richard was a man of many passions. He was a devoted NASCAR enthusiast and loved keeping his yard perfectly manicured. He was a proud father to Michael and Andrew Bell of Clarksville, TN, Ashley (Zachary) Bell-Lemoine of Lafayette, LA and Allison (Kyle) Ourso of Baton Rouge, LA and grandfather to Camryne Bell of Clarksville, TN, Keller Ourso of Baton Rouge, LA and Cooper Ourso of Baton Rouge, LA who will carry forward his legacy.

Richard will be remembered for his steadfast dedication, his quick wit, and the many lives he touched through his service. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

There will be a greeting of friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 12, 2025 in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, PA 15370 Shane M. Ayers-Managing Director with his memorial service being held at 12 PM. Interment will be held at Green Mount Cemetery, Waynesburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a veterans’ organization of their choosing in his honor.
