

He was born April 1, 1926 in a farmhouse in Haralson County, Georgia 2 miles east of Bremen to Wylie Clifton Brock and Vassie Ann Baxter Brock.He was the youngest of 5 boys and his mother passed away when he was only 10 years old. Mr. Brock joined the United States Navy on his 18th birthday serving on PT Boat C26622 as a Boatwain's Mate 2nd Class until his honorable discharge on June 16, 1946.
Since making his home in Waynesburg, Bill has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Waynesburg; he delivered Meals on Wheels for several years;was an active member of the Waynesburg Lions Club where he served on the Annual Golf Outing and Broom Sales committees. In October 2015 he was honored by the Waynesburg Lions Club who presented him with the Melvin Jones Fellow award. He was an active member of the Waynesburg Senior Citizen's Center and helped entertain residents at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home with music and song on Friday afternoons. He enjoyed golfing with his children and grandchildren, visiting and talking with shut-ins and exploring the back roads of Greene County. He believed that single acts of caring made a difference in life.
He worked full time at an auto parts store while attending Kent State University where he earned a BS in Business Administration on June 10,1950. He opened his own Dodge-Plymouth-Dodge Truck dealership, Leechburg Auto Sales in Leechburg, PA on August 12, 1950 which was recognized as one of the top ten dealerships in the Eastern Zone of the United States during 1955-56. He was also the President of Leechburg Mobile Homes and Kiski Valley Investment and Development Corporation. He served as President of the Leechburg Business and Professional Men's Association and President of the Leechburg Lion's Club. He was appointed and served on the Juvenile Commission of Westmoreland County. He served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon for many years.
Mr. Brock also worked as an Installment Loan Officer at the First National Bank of Leechburg, PA. and was recognized as a top salesman of Bouchat Olds-Cadillac-Subaru in Natrona Heights, Pa. before retiring to Georgia in 1990. He was an active member of the Albany Rotary Club while living in Georgia. Mr. Brock was a member of the Bethel Masonic Lodge #789, PA and Dougherty Masonic Lodge #591,GA, since April 13, 1948 having been a member for 69 years. He was also a member of the Syria Temple in Pittsburgh, PA.
His beloved wife Dalene Mae Turner Brock whom he married on October 24, 1947 in Akron, Ohio passed away on September 5, 1993 in Albany, Georgia. Surviving are 2 children: Barbara Brock Nelson (Barry) of Waynesburg with whom he made his home since October 2007; and Dr. William A. Brock (Kim) of McAllen, Texas. 5 grandchildren: Kristen Nelson Cook (Chad), Bryan William Nelson (Sharon), Barry Patrick Nelson (Leigh), Alison Brock, and Victoria Brock. 4 great-grandchildren:Anna Mae Cook, Nathan Christopher Cook, Brinton William Nelson, and Franchessa Petrice Nelson. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and sister-in-laws: Horry Brock (Emma), Harold Brock (Sarah), Jewell Brock (Connie) and Aubrey Brock (Rayve).
Friends will be received from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 03, 2017 in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH,Inc. Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director,197 N. Maiden St Waynesburg, PA 15370 where services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 04, 2017 with Rev. Dr.Edward Peirce officiating. Entombment will be in Greene Co. Memorial Park, Waynesburg, PA. Waynesburg Lions club will hold a visitation at the funeral home on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 6:00 PM.
